KDSB Wants To Crack Down On "Slum Lords"

The Kenora District Services Board will no longer set people up for failure.

Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says they will be taking immediate action to ensure all of their clients are treated fairly and have a clean, safe place to stay.

Wall says they are facing a housing crisis in communities across the district.

He says there's a shortage of social housing units, and some of the units are in deplorable condition.

Wall says staff will soon be approaching municipalities and the Northwestern Health Unit demanding them to crack-down on health and property standards at some housing units across the district.

Wall stresses enforcement on so-called "slum lords" is falling through the cracks and they have seen enough.
