Another first-degree murder charge has been laid against alleged serial killer Bruce MacArthur, bringing the total number to 8.
Toronto police detective-sergeant Hank Idsigna says the latest first-degree murder count is in connection with the death of Kirushna Kumar Kanagaratnam, who arrived in Canada in 2010 from Sri Lanka and lived in the Scarborough area.
Idsigna says it's believed he was murdered between September 3 to December 14 of 2015.
"Mr. Kanagaratnam was born in 1978 and would have been 37-years-old at the time of his murder," says Idsigna, who confirms that he has been identified as the deceased man in the John Doe photograph released by the Toronto police.
Idsigna says that the identification was confirmed with the help of an international government agency, but told media that he could not elaborate on that.
