The City of Kenora is hoping to proceed with another phase of Downtown Revitalization.

The next section to be completed is 1st Street South and Chipman Street.

Mayor Dave Canfield says they kind of changed their focus after they were able to do a property swap for the old Kenwood Hotel.

"The intent was eventually do the whole downtown.  With the purchase of that property now, that has changed it where we can actually align those streets.  And with the swap with the old Kenwood Hotel, that property...gives us the opportunity to go straight through to First Street."

City council has agreed to submit a funding application to both FedNor and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund for one million dollars each.

The total project would be about 5.5 million dollars.
