The Wynne government is injecting new life into community access and forestry roads.
The Liberals are spending 74-million dollars this year on needed upgrades.
Minister of Municipal Affairs Bill Mauro says the funding will have major benefits for northern Ontario and the forest industry.
Mauro says by improving and expanding the road network, the government is also increasing access for tourism, economic development, fishing, hunting and camping.
He notes these roads also act as crucial routes for emergency preparedness, fire response and evacuation.
