The Grand Chief of Treaty Three is speaking out against the verdict in the Colten Boushie case.

Gerald Stanley was acquitted of second degree murder in the death of 22 year old Colten Boushie, an aboriginal male who was shot in the head almost two years ago near Biggar, Saskatchewan.

Francis Kavanaugh said in a press release that Canadians cannot ignore the systemic racism involved and he believes the jury composition supports the numerous documented reports of racism in the justice system.

Kavanaugh also stated he is echoing the calls for swift and immediate action to reform the Canadian criminal justice system.

A rally was held yesterday afternoon in Kenora to protest the verdict.
