With advancements in technology made in the forest sector, the Forest Producers Association of Canada is optimistic about the future of the industry in northwestern Ontario.

CEO Derek Nighbor says major advancements are being made in reducing carbon output.

Nighbor believes there will be opportunities in our region in the not-to-distant-future to take advantage of new innovative material.

He stresses the federal government needs to continue working with the forest sector on these wood based ideas.

Nighbor adds people who think forests should be left alone need to realize the importance of properly using trees.

He says the forest industry works at eliminating dead wood and material, thus cutting back the threat of forest fires.
